Over the past 10 years, the music industry has experienced a number of disruptions that have caused a shift in power away from major labels and into the hands of musicians and their fan communities. Unfortunately, many artists have not been able to take advantage of this power shift for one of a few reasons:
- They don’t know how what resources are available.
- They’re so bogged down with learning how to use Music 2.0 tools that they lose the drive and/or creativity needed to make their best music, or
- If they know how to use Music 2.0 tools, they lose time trying to use everything available to them instead of strategically choosing the tools that most effectively reach their core audience.
The Go Forth Manifesto will address the following issues:
- Why, no matter what Music 2.0 tools an artist uses, great music is still the deciding factor when it comes to career longevity.
- Why creativity and authenticity are the most important qualities a musician can have in the Music 2.0 era.
- The importance of staying abreast of music industry trends, issues, and resources and how to do so without taking too much time away from creative endeavors.
- How musicians can choose the Music 2.0 tools that work best for them and how to build a strategy using the principles of Authenticity, Communication, Fan Adoption, Fan Community, and Promotion/Distribution.
- How to build a team of trusted fans, colleagues, and professionals to help create and implement their Music 2.0 strategy.
- How to avoid common pitfalls when implementing Music 2.0 tools.
After reading The Go Forth Manifesto, musicians and music industry entrepreneurs will have a solid foundation and be empowered to “Go Forth”, focus on their creativity and music, and build profitable careers.
