The Art of Not Knowing - Proposal #255

Expectations are a pain.

All of our misery comes from expectations that weren't met, leading us to disappointment and despair. Why did you do it like this? Why did you have to say that? I thought you were going to come home early.

The thing with these predictions is that we invest so much energy into them that any deviation creates a stress within our mental state. We drain ourselves by holding them in our attention and fastidiously checking them against reality.

This manifesto is about how you can begin to break free of your compulsion to think you know what is going to happen next. It is about being unsure yet going ahead anyway; about improvising, and stepping out and into the prospect of not knowing.
